THE RANGITIKEI ELECTION.
TO THE EDITOR. | Sib.— l was amused, yet generally disgusted with the effusion appearing in your issue of last evening over the signature of " Thomas A. Bryce," and from tbe onset let me inform your correspondent that he is not dealing with school children, and his idle twaddle, glaring inconsistencies, and general wishywashy soft soap, will not have any material effect upon the electors at tbe approaching contest. To take his reasons, or imaginary arguments, seriatim, support Mr Lethbridge (not Mr Bailey) 1. Because be opposes the hypocritical and alleged " working man's" Government—the Government ad libitum cheap labor from sister colonies (and call* it •• iocreased population," rather " increased starvation,") and send co operative workers to parts of our own electorate where we have many men able to do tbe wrok required. But the " working man's " Government has a purpose other tban philanthropic in this, and prevents a man earning what he chooses by restricting the hours of labour. 2. Because the " majority ot the present Opposition " seek a pure administration of a progressive policy. 3. Because Mr Lethbridge was not told by "King Dick" to refrain from giving any pledge. 4. Because Mr Lethbridge needs no railways or railway concessions. 5. Because the co operative work is a positive failure, a la Levin State Farm. It also robs a man of all ambition. 6. Because Mr Lethbridge will vote according toinborn principles of integrity and honor, and has not and never will be the subject of the " application of tbe boots." 7. Because a man whose very life to the minutest detail shows extreme liberality is notgoinpto change, or " wobble," his character in a day. 8. Because Mr Lethbridge's experi- j eoce on local governing bodies — Manchester Road Board, Hospital Board, Feilding Borough Council, and Education Board— is large, varied, and successful. 9. Because Mr Letbbridge has always upheld democracy by a three-filths majority. 10. Because " partisan letters " happen to contain terse indisputable facts. 11. See No. 2, and add tbe fact that 9 lOths of legislation of last five sessions was formulated and found origin in the so-called " Opposition " brains. Liberals and Conservatives avoid such class distinctions, recognise a Liberal and deservedly worthy public man while >ou have tbe opportunity and " Vote for Lethbridge." I am, etc , Arthur G. Cabty.
