' v , • Auckland, November 27. t, ' At the instance of the authorities of the Door of Hope, a visit was paid to certain Chinese tenements in a lane off > Wakeield street by Mr G. Goldie, inKfUctor for the City Council, and Dr Uni (Health Officer for the City) ac companied by Sister Francis, of the Door of Hope. Two young girls about 19 were found in one of the houses, but one managed to get away from the rescue party. The other said she had been brought to the house the previous evening while under the influence of drink, and did not know where she was till morning. She said she had a mother living in Newton, but preferred going to the Door of Hope.
