(Per Press Association.) Christchurch, Nov. 15. A four-roomed cottage at Linwood occupied by an aged couple named Tawers, was destroyed by fire to day. Mrs Tawers who 18 quite blind, nearly lost her life in endeavouring to find her four-year-old grandson, who, however, had ran out. Two adjoining cottages ware consider* ably damaged. Waipawa, This Day. The Rey. Mr Mills addressed the largest Prohibition meeting ever held here. At the conclusion a resolution was carried to the effect that Prohibition was an unwarrantable interference with the liberties of the people. An amendment that it was undesirable any license be renewed in Waipawa electoral district was rejected. Dunedin, Nov. 17. William Storey, farmer, near Waitati, died snddenly yesterday. The cause is supposed to be heart disease.
