The Political Campaign.
o (Per Press Association.) Wellington, November 4. Mr Dutbie has replied to the reqmeU tion that difficulties he foresaw some time ago have now accentuated, and he must therefore finally decline to become a candidate for the city. Dunedin, Nov. 5. The yoting among members of the National Association for the selection of candidates for the City resulted in Messrs Scobie McKonzie, A. C. Begg, and H. S. , Fish being selected. Mr Jas. Allen addressed his constituents at Milton last evening reviewing the work of the session from the Opposition standpoint. He received a vote of thanks and confidence. Mr H. Hutchison addressed the' electors of the City this evening. In dealing with the work of the session he con* deraned what the Goyernment had done, all along in connection with banking matters. He spoke in support of their other policy measures. If re-elected, he would support th» Seddon Ministry. He would not follow Sir R. Stout. A vote of thanks and confidence was unanimously carried coupled with the request that he should again contest the City.
