Lawn Tennis.

The fifth annual general meeting of the Feilding Lawn Tennis Club was held on Friday last. The Rev Innea Jones occupied the chair. There was a good representative meeting. The report and balance-sheet were adopted ac read. The report stated that there are now 59 members in the club. The clnb has bought the ground on which the courts are situated, and borrowed the money to do co. A dance got up last winter was a help towards decreasing this debt, and went off successfully. Owing to such a wet season all the tournaments were not finished. Miss L. Macarthur won the Ladies' Singles event thiiß year, thus securing the club racquet. The unfinished events must be finished by three weeks after the opening day next season. The club express their thanks to the President, Mr Coote, for a handsome silver challenge cup for the championship of the club ; also to Mr Mildred for the ladies championship racquet. Dor* ing the season matches were played against Waoganui, Palmerston (2), and Feilding also took part in a triangular match at Palmerston, the players being from Danevirke, Palmerston and Feilding Clubs. The courts being so wet at the end of the season the committee decided not to top-dress them, bnt a considerable amount of drainage was done and is a great improvement. The thanks of the club are due to those ladies who, in their usual willing manner, provided afternoon teas on the courts. It was decided to open the courts on Saturday, 7th November, at 3 pan. The following officers were elected for the ensuing season .'—President, Mr C. H. Coote; vice-presidents, Messrs lanes Jones and Richmond ; secretary, Mr F. T. Brabant ; treasurer, Mr H. B. Dyer ; committee, Messrs C. E. Bryce, W. H. Giosen and H. C. Stewart. It was decided to hold a meeting of ladies on the courts on the opening day at 4.30 p.m., to arrange re afternoon teas. A vote of thanks to the chairman ter* initiated the meeting.
