Exploration of New Guinea.

Per Press Association. Brisbane, Oct. 26. From Thursday Island Sir William McGregor has wired to the Governor that he bad crossed New Guinea from the mouth of the Mambare river to the mouih of the Yanapa riyer. He ascended Mount Scratcnley, and then travelled west by the Stanley range and Mount Knutsford, and he found a comparatively easy route to the coast. All the mountain ranges are composed of slate and granite, and be thinks they will probably turn out to be auriferous. He established excellent terms with the natives, whom he fonnd very friendly disposed towards his patty.
