Pohangina County Election Contest.

The Zig Zag road would be one of the first matters he would attend to. Mr Haybittle tbongbt that as the settlers on Zig Zag road were paying for the L3OOO loan they should have something done to that road very soon. Things connected with the Council seemed to be somewhat mismanaged and ho hoped they would be improved. In reply to Mr Pollock Mr Brown said that about 1£ miles of Oroua road was left nnmetalled which was in the loan, and that it seemed they would get something out of the " thirds " to make the roads. In reply to Mr W. T. Oakley, Mr Brown thought it would be a good idea to meet the ratepayers occasionally to consult them and he was willing to do so. In reply to Mr Finnis, Mr Brown thought it would be best to raise a loan to complete all roads but it was so difficult to carry a poll. Mr Harrison thought they could raise a loan and if they got the " thirds " they could be placed to a sinking fund. That 5-Sths of a penny would cover the interest on a loan, and that after the election a meeting should be called to consider proposals. A vote of thanks to and confidence in Mr Brown was carried on the motion of Mr Currie, and seconded by Mr Hazell. Mr Brown retnrned thanks for the vote. The usual compliment to the chairman terminated the meeting.
