Disastrous Droughts.
Per Press Association.) Adelaide, Oct. 23. The South Australian " Register " has started a fund in aid of the distressed Northern districts, amongst whom there is great destitution owing to the protracted drought. Some are entirely without flour and are living on bread made of bran and pollard. Large numbers of cattle are dying and many far* mers in order to keep trie few remaining alive arc turning them into the wheatfields.
