o (Per Press Association.) Auckland, Oct. 22. Intelligence has been received in Auckland from London that the mining market ac present is without any animation and no immediate revival is looked for. Its present condition is attributed to the uncertainty regarding the Presidential election in the United States and to the unsettled affairs in Turkey. Wellington, October 22. The Wellington Rugby Union has suspended sixteen players, among the number being several representative and senior men, for taking part in a match between the Permanent Artillery and Petone Railway Workshops, in which the players included two well-known men who had previously been suspended by the Union for bad behaviour on the field. The suspension holds good until 31st December next. The Rev. Mr Murray broke his leg at Carterton in a very simple way. In coming through his gateway be alighted to close the gates, and in rimning to overtake his conveyance his ankle twisted on the uneven ground and his leg bone snapped. The improvement in Lady Glasgow's health still continues, and her medical attendants are now hopeful that she ia fairly on the way towards recovery. Christchurch, Oct. 20. A committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council has been appointed to revise the programme of matches to be played by the Australian Eleven in order to allow the team to keep an engagement to play at Hobart on December 10th. It is possible than either Wellington or Canterbury may have to forego a provincial match and have the New Zealand match instead. Invercargill, October 22. A report has been cm-rent that exconstable Murdoch, who mysteriously disappeared from Wellington some time ago met his death in a reoent engagement in Matabeleland. Murdoch'a brother who lives in Invercargill, telegraphed to South Africa for particulars, and hag received an answer that the report is without foundation.
