(Per Press Association) Wellington, Oct. 22. Dr Newman and Mr H. A. Field are out for Otaki. Samuel Brown. President of the Wellington Industrial Exhibition and a wellknown citi/cn, is being reqnestioned to Btand for Wellington city. Mr C. M. Luke, the well-known ironfounder and an ex- Mayor, has been asked by the Liberal Association to become a candidate and he is taking time to consider. Mr T. H. Smith is nnnounced &a a Progressive Liberal candidate to oppose Mr JBuohnnan for the Wairarapa. Mr 11. A. Field, a candidate for the Otald electorate, speaking at Johnson"villc on Monday night, said be was not a blind and uncompromising supporter of tho present Government, although he approved generally of what they had done. He did not approve of Prohibition. Mr Field received a hearty vote of thanks aud confidence. Auckland. Oct. 22. Mr J. Billiard addressed ;he Eden constituents at Devonpnrt lnst night. He said ho was a Liberal, but not liberal enough for the Sertdon Government. He received a vote of thank?.
