LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, October 16. Tbe Council met at 11, and the Banking Bill was further considered in Committee. A new clause was added by 13 to 6 allowing the liquidators of tbe Colonial Bank to arrange the liquidation without the intervention of the Supreme Court. A new clause was also added, giving power to the liquidators of the Colonial Bunk to deal with the directors of the Bank of New Zealand as to making a bargain for all accounts in the B list without the necessity of applying to the Court for confirmation. The Bill was then reported as amended. On the motion for the third reading, Dr Grace pointed out the changed character of the Bill, and the responsibility which rested on the Government for the future of the Bank of New Zealand. The third reading was agreed to, and the Bill passed.
