Freeman E. Jackson and Co. report for their Johnsonville sale : — Beef was of fine quality and bidding brisk ; last sale rates were maintained. We had a good entry of sheep and prices improved slightly. Pigs were in good demand and those entered for the sale sold in favour of the vendors. Our quotations aresCattle— Best bullocks, £7 10s to £8 15s ; others, £6 17s 6d to £1 ss ; cows, £4 15s to £5 Is 6d, equal to 18s for ox and Iss for cow beef the lOOlbs. Sheep -Wethers, 15s 9d to 15s lOd ; ewes, 12s 2d tp 15s 6d ; shorn light wethers, 9s 7d ; ewes, 8s 2d ; lambs, 8s 6d. Pigs— Pork, 16s 6a to 23s ; stores, 10s to 13s 6d. Messrs Freeman It. Jackson and Co. report for their Wanganui sale : — Small entries came forward both at Waverley and St. Hill Street. Bidding was about on a par with late rates. A large number of pigs came forward at St. Hill St. and sold at last sale's rates. Cattle— At Waverley : Milkers, £4 3s to £5 17s 6d ; fat cows, £3 16s 6d to ;£3 19s ; store cows, £2 5s ; At St. Hill Street : Cows, £2 10s ; milkers, £2 12s 6d to £4. Sheep— At Waverley : Empty ewes, 6s ; old ewes and lambs, 8s 2d ; hoggets, 9s M. At St Hill Street : Fat sheep, 10s 9d to lls 9d ; fat ewes, 9s 6d ; old ewes and lambs, 8s 3d. Pigs — Baconers, 23s to 35s ; porkers, 12s to 17s 6d ; smaller pigs, 4s 9d to 8s 9d.

Chkistciiurch, Oct. 7. Fat cattle.— Steers from £5 to £9 2s 6d ; cows, £4 2s 6d to £8 ; heifers, £6 to £9. Beef remains practically unaltered from 19s to 21s per 1001 b for best, and from 17s to 18s for secondary. Dairy cattle. The top price was £5 12s 6d. Store cattle. — Old cows, 15s to £\) ; good, forward-conditioned young cows, up to £i 10s ; forward 2£ to 3 year old steers, £4 5s to £5 2s ; yearlings, ifl 12s to £1 17s. Fat sheep. — Market without buoyancy. Merino wethers and buyers' sheep suffered a drop. Prime heavy-weight freezing wethers, 16s to 18s ; extra up to 19s 5s ; freezers, mixed sexes. 15s to 17s 9d ; forward sheep, not quite fit for export, 13s to 14s 3d ; best ewes, 10s to 13s 6d ; merino wethers, best, lls to 123; medium, 7s 6d to 10s. Fat lambs.— Supply in excess of demand ; prices from 8s 3d to 14s. Store sheep. -Two and 4-tooth wethers, lls 6d to 13s ; 2 and 4-tooth, mixed sexes, 10s 6d to 12s ; good hoggets, 8s 6d to 10s 6d ; 4-tooth ewes ia lamb, 13s 6d ; ewes, with good lambs, 15s 6d. Pigs. — Heavy baconers, from 35s to 45s 6d ; lighter sorts, 27s 6d to 35s ; porkers, 17s to 25s ; stores, 13s to 20s ; choppers, 38s to 65s ; bacouers brought 3|d per lb, and in exceptional cases 3^d, and porkers 3£d.
