LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, October 7. The Factories Act Amendment Bill passed its final stages. The lobacco Act Amendment Bill was read a second time. The Council decided to insist on its amendments iv the Shipping and Seamen's Bill, the Land for Settlements Bill, and the Shop and Shop Assistants Bill. The Companies Act Amendment Bill passed through Committee. In Committee on the Wages Protection Bill, a clause making gum digßing subject to the provisions of tbe Truck Act, was struck out after a lengthy discussion by 18 to 9. Progress was then reported on the Bill.
