London Wool Market.
(Per Press Association'). London, October 4. At Friday's wool sales the prices were generally 5 to 7i per cent, below those of July. Heavy catalogues of shabby inferior sorts have weakened the values all round, except for bright crossbreds nnd eood bulky scoured merinos. Up to date 128,000 bales have been catalogued, of which 114,200 bales have been sold. At yesterday's sale the bidding was ijnieter and the prices were irregular. The chief buyers were English. The Elderslie wool brought 6ld and the Owhaoko (scoured) Is 1-J-d. For sheepskins there is fair competition, good crossbreds realising ,}d advance, while for merinos and the lower grade crossbreds there was |d decline. October 5. At the wool sales there was a poor catale^ue offered, consequently the sales were slow and prices weak. The wool sales close on October 16th. " Meinhoward " sold for 7d.
