TO-DAY'S RACES.
Hastings, This Day. There is splendid weather for the second days races of tbe Napier Jockey Club's Spring Meeting. There is a large attendance. The Governor and suite are again present. The following are the results : — Trial Handicap— Primala 1, Bonafide 2, Aphony 3. Syvanus, Popsun, Douglas, Barshot and W 7 ikitoria were scratched. Won by several lengths. Time, 2m in lsec. Dividend, L 3 15s. (Per Press Association.) Melbourne, October 5. Fort has been scratched for the Caulfield Cup, and Leonidas and Fort for the Melbourne Cup. Marusa has been supported to the extent of 5000 for the Caulfield Cup and now 10 to 1 is the best offer. Newhaven is favorite for tbe Melbourne Cup at 8 to 1, and Resolute next at 14 to 1.
