Our Dairy Expert's Resignation.
(Per Press Association.) Auckland, Oct. 3. Mr McEwen, late chief daily expert passed through Auckland to-day on his way to America. It is understood he had made arrangements some time ago to take a trip to the States and Europe with the object of gathering the most recent information regarding the dairy industry. The desirability of our experts visiting Europe about thil time was mooted at the Dairy Coi fetenoe in Dunedin in June laßt. Mr MciJiv>»u made his arrangements for the trio under the impression Government would offer no objection 10 the tour of inspection which he considered necessary in the interests of the colony. Cabinet, after discussing his application, decided the department could not easily dispense with his services at this period. He accordingly resigned. His present intention is to spend some weeks in the United States and Canada, then go on to England, Denmark and France. He has taken a ticket for the round trip intending to come back to tne Colony in May. It is understood that before going he mapped out the work of the graders and instructors for the season.
