Hard on tne Husbands.
It is related of Sam Jones, the American evangelist, that at the close of one of hip addresses he placed his hands across hie breast, and, looking solemnly over the audience, said : " I want all the women io this crowd wBo have doi spoken a harsh word or harboured an unkind thought toward husbands for a month past to stand up." One old woman apparently on the Bhndy side of sixty, stood up. " Come forward aud give me your hand," said the preacher. The woman did so, whereupon Jones said: "Now turn" wound and let the audience see the best looking woman in the country." After taking her seat the great revivalist addressed the men : "Now I want all the men in this crowd who have not spoken a hard word or harboured an unkitld thought toward their wives for a month past to stand up." Twentyseven great big strapping young tellows hopped out of the audience with alacrity. •• Come forward and give me your hands, my bovs." Jones gave each one a vigorous shake, after whi«h he ranged all of them side by side in front of the pulpit and facing the audience. He looked them all over carefully and solemnly, and then, turning to the audience, he said : " I want you all to t«ke a good look at the twenty-seven biggest liars in the State of Tennessee."
