The first meeting of the newly-elected Shootiag Committee wai held ia the Orderly Boom last night. Sergt. Aitken was voted to the chair. There were also present Vols. Evans, Parker, Parkes, and Wilson (2>. Vol. Wilson was re-elected secretary and treasurer. It was decided to accept the challenge from the Awahuri contingent to fire a Morris tube match against the remainder of the second team on Monday, October 12 ; the second team to be selected on the Bth inst. .Resolved. That the shooting season be opened on Wednesday, the 14th inst., with a match married v. single, ranges 200, 300, and SOOyards. starting at 2 p.m. It was arranged to have two new canvas targets made and the mounds, trench, etc., put into good repair before the opening day.
