(Per Press Association) Melbourne, Sept 29. Newhaven is the favorite for the Melbourne Cup at 100 to 8, and resolute at 100 to 7, for the Derby. Three hundred at evens are taken and 100 about Newhaven for the Caulfield Cup, Straightfire 100 to 7, and Duhallow 100 to 6. Sydney, Sept. 30. Scratchings — Valiant and Motto for the Melbourne Cup; Superb, Valiant, and Toreador for the Caulfeld Cup.
