To Stand this season in the Feilmng and Bakgitikbi Districts, The Thoroughbred Horse. HANDSOME JACK (Foaled 1890). HANDSOME JACK is a six*year» old, stoutly- built bay horse, standing 1> hands 2| inches high. As his name indicates, he is a handsome > horse, and so fashionably bred that he is well worthy the attention of breeders. The stoutest strains of the English aud colonial thoroughbred blocd is blended in this horse's pedigree. It wouid appear almos : unnecessary to refer further I than to his tabulated pedigree under* mentioned, but the family he has descended from are so rich in winning blood that the o?raer may be pardoned for just i mentioning a few facts perhaps not gen» I erally knowu. Han womb Jack is by St. Leger tthe well- known winner-producing sire), whose stock hay.? won in New Zealand since the season 1895- fi, eighty .one races, valued at £21.672. Kadiant, who never raced, is by that stoatly-bred sire Bo binson Crusoe, whose mares are so highly thought of by Australian breeders, and as Badiant is from Badiance, this makes the dam of Handsome Jack full sister to those fast horses Quadrant and CruiHer (sire of the Bangitikei bred Lorelei). Bobinsou Crusoe (sire of Bs.diant) is full brother to that stud "em Onyx (dam of Nordenfeldt), and Kadiaace (dam of Badiant) is by Fireworks (sire of The Mute, who is sire of the Grand National Steeplechase winner. Mutiny, and the Grand National Hurdle Race winner, Dummy-, this year), whi?e Sunshine [dam of Badiance >, is also dam of Sunrise, a very successful stallion in New South Wales. A plane© at Sfc. Hippo's pedigree, who is considered by good judges to be one of the best horses seen in New Zealand of late years, will show that Handsosib Jack has really a better pedigree, as he shows the valuable strain of Maribyrnong blooi, which is absent frcm St. Hippo's pedigree Both horses arc closely related on blood lines. ill jl End- '<-■ „ , Sir Her ules i I '=!T. le catcner ' ; C-,ui iOli . ! iS: Ec2u;na Ml3s p ! :« J| ICjl '-- noe Sultan ; ;-, iP'icahon- | Trampoline ' a<\ \ US k, 'Muley ' -i, !
