DIPHTHERIA AT BEACONSFIELD.
TO THE EDITOR Sir, — Id your issue for Tuesday 22nd inst., a complaint was made that the fowlbouse in the school ground was iv an unsuitable position. The Beaconsfield School Committee have decided to have it destroyed, at the same time I must point out that the inconvenience } caused by the birds was much exaggerated. The schoolmistress, "at the request of the Committee," has adopted the most striogent measures to prevent the spreading of the diphtheria by the frequent thorough fumigation of the school and careful supervision o£ the children's health. I have only to add that it would be more seemly if matters relating to school detail were laid before the Committee to deal with before finding their way into the newspapers. I am, etc., T. Scoble Cornish. Chairman of the Beaconsfield School Committee. Beaconsfield, September 26th, 1895.
