Wonderful Escape From Death

(Per Press Association."* Auckland. Sept. 17. A Maori woman had a marvellous escape at Taupiri this morning. Three Natives were crossing the railway bridge bolow the township, and appeared not to bear the approaching goods train. Two of them got clear, but an old woman was caught by the cow-catcher just at the end of tne ridge, and was tossed up into the air. and into the creek beneath, a distance of 20 or 30 foet. The train was immediately stopped, but by the time the pas'* sengers got back to the scene the old lady bud swam ashore, and, much fo the deliftht of everyone, was found to be unhurt beyond a Bhukipg.
