« (Per Press Association.) Lvvercargill, Sept. 12. A writ has been issued at the instance of Dr Aschby (who was arrested a few days ago for alleged malpractice) against Hergeant Macdonald, claiming L2OO damages for alleged ill-usage and false imprisonment. The case is to be heard at the next sittings of the Supreme Court. Wellington, September 14. His Excellency the Governor, and Lady Glasgow will leave Wellington on Thursday night in the Hineinoa for a week's cruise od the Marlborough Sounds. A very fine obelisk has been erected by the Masonic Grand Lodge of New Zealand over the grave of the Tate E. T. Gillon. Chhistciiurch, Sept. 14. The barque Delta bound from New York to Wellington 119 days out, put into Lyttelton last evening to obtain medical assistance for the captain, who is suffering from dropsy, and was landed to-day. He has been ill about a month. The vessel attempted to put into Hobart and Dunedm for medica] assistance, but in Gaeh case was blown off the land. There have beeu numerous burglaries daring the last few days. Several warehouses and offices have been entered but in no case was anything of much value stolen. Auckland, Sept. 14. A seven-roomed dwelling with furniture valued at L 250 the property of Carl Jensen, farmar, was destroyed by fire at Pukapuka, near Warkworth. The building was insured m the Commercial Union for L2OO. The furniture was uninsured. Numerous cases of pocket-picking are reported in Auckland at the present. In every case the victims were women. The Office of the Welcome Find Company at Coromandel was broken into and specimens valued at LSOO stolen. There is no clue to the robber.
