Messrs Gorton and Son report : — We held our usual fortnightly sale at our FeiJdiDg yards on Friday. The quality of stock was not up lo the average, and bidding was dull for begets, two pens being turned out unsold. The bulk of the cattle yarded whs m«de up of store bul locks and 2 and 2|yr stof-ra, which wore possed in under the h unmer but sold privately afterwards. We quote : — 3 and 4-yr store bullocks L 4 8s to L 4 10s ; 2 to BJ.jr steers. L 3 3s 6d ; fat cows, L 4 to L4*7§ ; 18-months heifers, 39s ; cows in calf, L 2 18s ; yearlings, L22s ; 2-year heifers, L 2 4s ; weeners and yearlings, 15s 6d to 26a. Sheep— Forward wet^ e^ s ' 11s lOd to 12s 6d ; mixed boggete, 8s 4d to 8a 9d ; amall bogß*t», 5s lid ; fat and forward ewes, 10s 2d ; empty ewes. 7s 9d. The draught horses sold, on account of Messrs Hocken Bros., averaged L2l. Hawera, Sept. lU. The Egmont Farmers' Union stock report.-Our monthly sale at Okaiawa was held on Thursday, the 3rd inst. The entry of cattle was large, and bidding for 2 to 2k year steers brisk. Other lines were not; in such request, though we managed to do a fair amount business. We quote : -Fat cows, ±4 to £4 6d 6d ; 2 to 2} year steers, 45s to 59s ; yearlings, 25s to 85s ; calves, 10s to 16s. <ii t We held a very successful sale ot dairy stock, etc., on Mr J. Bentley's farm, Skeet Road, Kapuni, on Monday, the 7th inst. The cows sold well, being a good line, and all sundries realised their fall valtie. We quote:— Dairy cows, £ 4 15s to £9 10s ; dairy heifers, £3 15s to £5 12s 6d ; 18-months heifers, 35s to 40s ; yearlings, 20s to 22s 6d ; harness horses, £14 to £17 10s. There was a great abnndance of cattle in the Manaia yards on Wednesday, the 9fch inst., it being the largest entry that we have had there for some time. The attendance was small and bidding dull, so that no great deal of business was transacted. We quote : - Fat bullocks (light weights), £5 5s to £5 14s 6d ; 3-year steers, £4 to jE4 7s 6d ; fat and forward cows, £3 8s so £3 155 ; dairy cows and heifers, £3 to £i 5s ; calves, 15s to 20s.
