A number of member* ot tbe House of Representatives waited on the Minister of Defence yesterday evening with a request tbat ibe subsidy made in (he past to the New Zealand Rifle Association be continued this year. The Minister said no provision had been made to subsidise the approaching meeting of the Association, the on the estimates this year being to cover a deficiency on theOauwu \ meeting. His own feeling was in favor of the subsidy, and he should move in the direction, pending the recommendation of the Commandant of the forces, that a sum be placed on the supplementary estimates as heretofore, and he would brmg the matter before bis colleflgnes.
