Feilding Athletic Club
The annual general meeting of j members of the Feilding Athletic | Club was hold in the Assembly Rooms ■ last evening. Present — Messrs W. A. ' Bailey (pn sident, in the chair), H. L. Sherwill (secretary), W. G. Haybictle, j E. Goodbehere, P. Thomson, G. Kirton, H. Woolven, B. Gosling, T. H. James, F. Y. Leth bridge, C Bray, \ sanr., H. Worsfold, E. H. Fisher, F. i Mackenzie, G, H. Saywell, R. H. Whisker, S. Andrew, W. Reid, A. R. Curtis. The minutes of the previous meeting wre read and confirmed. The report for the year ended July 31st, 1896, was read as follows : — " It affords your committee great pleasure in laying before you the balance-sheet for the year ending July 31st, 1896, showing a balance credit in funds of the club to the extent of £75 Is lid, the amount being made up as follows : balance at bank £34 lls lid and fixed deposit of £40, with accumulated i interest of 10s. £40 ot this amount has been deposited for a further term of six months. The last annual meeting held on Boxing Day passed off most successfully, leaving a credit balance of £26 18s 8d upon the meeting after payment of all expenses. Your committee regret to report that the running track within the Oval and the fencing around it are both in very bad condition, and would submit to this meeting as a recommendation that it should endorse a resolution passed by your committee at their last meeting which reads thus : " That a sum not exceeding £25 be spent in improving the running track, provided the Borough Council will pass a resolution prohibiting the game of football, or any other game from being played upon the Oval, which is likely to injure the ground." The list of members closed with 36 naraes and the committee met fourteen times during the year. The balance-sheet was read showing, Eeceipts.
The following gentlemen retired from the committee : Messrs W. A. Sandilands, E. Mills, F. Y. Lethbridge, A. C. Matheson, W. Reid, and T. H. James ; and the following were ballotted out according to the rules of the Clvb — Messrs R. H. Whisker, G. Kirton, Woolven, W. G. Haybittle, G. Lethbridge. This left eleven vacancies on the committee, and the following gentlemen were duly elected : — Messrs W. G. Haybittle, J. H. James, R. H. Whisker, W. Reid, G. Kirton, 0. Bray senr., H. Woolven, F. Y. Lethbridge, F. McKenzie, and J. Coombe. Mr W. Ai L. Bailey was re-elected President, and Messrs Kirton and Andrew auditors. The usual compliment to the chair terminated the meeting.
