The Banking Enquiry.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, Sept. 5. The Committee resumed at 10.30. The questions to be answered by Mr Murray were considered and amended. The Chairman stated it was impossible to get replies before the expiry of the extension of time granted by the House. Mr Watson produced a statement showing the only properties taken over from the Bank by the Estates Company were the Matamata Estate, Auckland Roller Floor Mills, and Auckland Freezing Co. The book valne, £120,000, was paid by the Estates Co. for these estates. Mr Watson, under examination by Mr Montgomery, stated the Board of Directors consented to Mr Murray acting on the Advisory Board of the Anglo-Conti-nental Mining Syndicate, but witness declined to ascertain what remuneration was paid to Mr Murray. Consideration of his action was postponed. Witness was examined as to the usual practice respecting bills payable and receivable.
