Bank Enquiry.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, Sept. 2. The Banking Committee resumed at 11 a.m. Mr W. G. Foster, Manager of the Estate Company and Assets Realisation Board, wrote stating that his directors instructed him not to supply the Committee with the latest ascertained values ot the estates. A motion to recind the resolution that the liquidators of the Colonial Bank be not paid as witnesses was negatived by 7 votes to 2. A motion that Mr Seddon shonld appear as a witness was negatived by 7 votes to 2. The examination of Mr Watson by Mr Seddon was continued. Witness said Murray had nothing to do with tbe first overtures for the purchase of the Colonial Bank. This Day. The Banking Committee resumed at 10 30. A letter was received from Mr Button, John Murray's attorney, enclosing Mr Murray's replies to questions put. to him by the Legislative Council. It was held over for consideration. Mr Watson stated two of the Directors of the Bank had been granted overdrafts on one account though they had the other account iv credit. Mr Cooper's opinion was that there had been a technical breach of a section of the Act of 1895 prohibiting overdrafts to the directors. Several letters relating to the Banking legislation were put in. Mr Watson Waß examined at considerable length by Mr Seddon respecting the Estates Company. He said a claim had been made by tbe Bank for £42,000 on the adjustment by the Estates Company.
