The Feilding Star, Oroua & Kiwitea Counties Gazette Published Daily. WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 1896. BOROUGH AFFAIRS.
It would appear that candidates for municipal honors in Palmerston .North have hitherto displayed quite as much difference and modesty as they have in Feilding. Our contemporary the Manawatu Daily Times of yesterday iv this connection says : — ln the past there has been 100 much blind voting The candidates have not stated their platform to the ratepayers, and most have been elected for personal reasons only. It is time that method was ended, and before a candidate goes to the poll he should be required to state his views clearly, and to give those he seeks to represent some idea of the line of action he intends to follow. If this were done some reform may result, and there is eveiy reason to believe that the management of Borough affairs is capable of very considerable improvement " This applies with equal force to Feilding at the present June ture.
