The Chemis Case.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, Sept. 1. It will be remembered that when the convict Hareford, alias Trudgeon, made a confession at Sydney recently that he, and not Chemis, was the perpetrator of the Kaiwarra murder, he stated that the knife and gun with which the murder was committed, were hidden by him on a date mentioned in a newly -made grave in the Sydney street cemetery, Wellington. The position of the gravo was clearly described in Hareford's confession, and from the enquiries made, it is understood that the records show that at the time stated there would have been newly-made graves in the particular locality indicated. Mr C. H, Mills M.H.R., has arranged for a search to be made for the weapons, and these two craves will probably be opened to the depth of about 2 feet, the \ depth at which Hareford says he buried the weapons.
