Worsfold, tobacconist aud hairdresser, has an important announcement in to-day. Mr P. Burrell has for sale 50 sacks of good sparrow bill oats. The same advertiser wants twenty cords of firewood split. The person who took a silk umbrella from tbe Coiyton Hall on Friday last is requested to return the same to Brarnwell's store, Colvton. From an advertisement which appears elsewhere to-day it will be seen that that the thoroughbred stallion King John will travel the Manawatu Kiwitea and Pohangina districts this season. According to statistics xjublished from time to time by the Grand Lodge in New South Wales the falling off of Good Templars in that colony during 9 years amounted to 10,192, or an average of slightly over 1132 per annum. It is just possible that arrangements will be made for them to extend their tour to Australia and New Zealand, provided of course, sufficient inducement offers. A large number of skaters have already reserved their skates. Some very bandsome dresses will be worn. The Drill Hall is to be nicely decorated for tho occasiou. On July 7tb, at New York, an exhausted pigeon fell into tho bauds of tbe police with diamonds attached to its tail neck and le»s, and the weight had been too much.
