Surrey.— 2nd innings. Abel, not out 50 Thompson, b Trumble 7 Hayward, c Jones b McKibbin ... 11 Baldwin, b McKibbin 2 Hayes, b Giffen 4 Read, not out 7 Extras 9 Total for 4 wickets 90 The match was abandoned and drawn. In the second innings -McKibbin took 2 for 30, Giffen 1 for 11, Trumble 1 for 25. The team have abandoned the idea of playing a match at Paris. August 20. The batting of the Australians, considering that it was a bowler's wicket, was excellent. Darling was missed at lonp off by Thompson the first ball, bat with the score at 55 gave another similar chance which was taken. Iredale and Giffen both played steadily, and Hill's innings saved a follow on, after which, as it was evident the game must be drawn, there was no further interest in it. Kelly damaged his finger and Hill took the gloves, Eady fielding in his place. In Surrey's second innings Abel again played a fine innings without a chance, and his 50 enabled him to complete 2000 runs in first-class cricket. Key, the Surrey captain, declared th« innings closed at 5.30, but the light became too bad to go on.
