(Per Press Association.) Sydney, August 15. For the opening day of the Sydney League Meeting the weather was cold and .showery with a strong wind blowing. The cycling carnival attracted a large attendance. In the Winter Stakes Handicap, the final of which will be decided next Saturday, no New Zealanders won a heat. In the Championship of New South Wales, Ken Lewis, of New Zealand, got a place in the heats and by clever riding won the final ; O'Brien, New South Wales, second, and McDonnell, America, third. Time, lmin, 12 4-sth j sees. Both Lewis and Body were left in the final of the Hampden Wheel Race, which was won by Davidson, of New South Wales, Body second, Stapleton third. Time, 4mins, 42 4 sth sees. First-class Handicap— Davidson 1, Chapman 2, Martin I.America) 3. Time, 3miu 25secs. The Intercolonial team race was won won by New Sontb. Wales. Time, smins 1 4-sth sees. In the Bike Teams Race, New Zea- j land was last. The Five Mile Cross-country Championship was won by Fred Thomas, iv i yOmia ll^scc, beating York, whose time was half a second slower.
