Wanganui Education Board.
The Board resumed at 9.80 on Toes* day morning, all the members with the exception of Mr Pirani, M.H.8., being present. The Buildiag Grant.— The Chairman moved that the allocation of the building grant be considered at next meeting on the Monday afternoon. Mr Hurley proposed as an amendment, thai the Board at its October meeting, allocate the bnilding grant, which he thought would enable committees who had claims on the grant to send in the applications, so that they could then allocate money for the most urgent needs. The motion was carried. - Banmai— From Mr R. Print, stating that a school site of two acres had boon obtained, and applying for constraetkm of school ; referred to carpenter. Salisbury Farm Homestead Block— From the Crown Lands Commissioner, Wellington, asking if the Board' wanted the site ; referred to Mr Fry. Palmerston— Mr Sanson said he had been requested to bring up the matte* of establishing art classes. There were 82 pupil teachers and cadets on the east side of the Bangitikei river who, with others, would attend. He moved that the class be formed, and that the —tWer be left with the Executive Committee to make arrangements with Mr Watkin. >v Technical School— The Chairman and Mr Pirani were appointed a committee to wait on the Government to urge the claims of the Wanganui Educational University Reserves, —Mr Bobbins moved that, whereas the Minister for Education has stated that the Govern. pent have under consideration the deal, ing with the University reserves in the Paten djstriot, in the direction of their being made available for higher educa* tion in the Provincial District of Tara* naki, therefore the Bo&rd urges upon the Government tbe claims of tbe schools under this Board in the Southern por* tion of* the Taranaki district for a per. tion of tbe revenues from such reserves* The xesolution. was omnried roanijnossly^ and the, deputation previously appointed authorised to bring the; matter before. tt» Qmumah " - - " :•:•-"«- --1: ■
