The Matabele Rising.
(Per Press Association.) Capetown, August 11. Alderson surprised the Makonis' impi. The first intimation the natives bad of the attack was the bursting of a shell in their kraal. Many escaped to caves, whence it was impossible to dislodge them. Captain Haynes, of the Engineers, was killed during the attack. Reports from Fort Salisbury state that there is no fresh meat there and little Hour. The time withiu which pardon will be granted to all rebels who come in has been extended to September 28. Captain Baden-Powell reports that the linpis are broken up into detached bands and are willing to surrender. Two strongholds have already yielded. August 12. -Col. Plummer found tbe southern stronghold of the rebels at Matoppo abandoned.
