Wanganui Education Board.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the above board was commenced last evening. Present— Messrs G. Carson (chairman), Sanson, Bobbins, Baker, Fry, Hurley, Lethbridge and the Rev J. Ross. After tho minutes of the previous meeting and of the meeting of the executive committee had been confirmed tbe Board -went into committee to consider the following : — Ruabine — From the committee, re building available for school use : resolved to ask how many children are in attendance, and that the name of the teacher be Hent on. Upper Taonui— From T. Innes, re appointment of cadet ; resolved not entitled to cadet. Taonui — From P. Matbeson, applying for junior assistantship ; dealt with, name to be sent on to another school. Halcombe— From C. Young, re dismisal; resolved that the usual time certificate be granted. Ernest Edwards, of Rongotea, was appointed pupil teacher at Foxton. The Board then resumed, and proceeded to transact tbe following. Bunnythorpe — From committee, re grant for closets ; resolved that the extra £2 be granted. Feilding — From Committee, re truant inspector ; resolved that the Board cannot make a grant for truant inspector, and that Mr Lethbridge report on the extention of the school building as applied for. In connection with tbe above Mr Hurley gave notice to move at the next meeting, " That two truant officers be appointed under section 9 of 'The School Attendance Act, 1894.* " Colyton — Application for models granted. Birmingham — Re defective chimney ; referred to Mr Fry. Nikau — Account for gravel and fencing ; referred to Mr Lethbridge. Aritaka — Re residence and dividing fence ; matter to stand over pending receipt of next building grant.
