Matravers, De Luen, Prendergast, McMinn. The representative match between Nelson and Manawatu was contested at Palmerston on Saturday, and ended in a draw, no score being made on either side. Manawatu, with the advantage of tbe wind, bad tbe best of tbe play all through the first spell. The forwards appeared weak and showed lack of combination. The wing threequarters also omitted to show any brilliancy and thus nullified the efforts of the other backs. In the second spell Nelson warmed up and put in some fast work. For Manawatu, Jack, Shannon and Hewitt repeatedly gave evidence of excellent play and pressed the visitors warmly. Towards the end of the game Shannon and Hewitt got clean away, but within a few feet of the line Keeling unfortunately knocked the ball forward in taking a high pass, and thus a certain score was lost. Hall, one of the Nelson players, was injured during tbe match and retired from the field. Mr Mitchell made a capital referee. The intercolonial football match,.
