AUSTRALIANS v. KENT.
(Per Press Association) London, August 8. Jones took five wickets for 53, and Giffen 3 for 62. Burnup played brilliantly, and his score included 14 fours. He gave ono chance, which waa not accepted. The fielding of the Colonial team was excellent. Australia in their sccohcl innings have lost nine wickets for 185 the chief scorers being Iredale, 37 : Giffen, 11 ; Trott, 61 ; Gregory, 29; Donuan, ll;Eady, 17 ; Trumble, not out, 12. Iredale and Trott batted well, but the latter was foolishly run out. The wicket at Canterbury cut up j badly in tbe third day's play, the Aus j traliau second innings closed for 203, Trumble being not ont with 23. I Wright took four wickets for 56 and ! Mv;on 3 i'or 31. In their secood iuniugs Kent wae uni able to play Trumble and Jones, who j captured all tlie wickets for 141. the Australians winning by 176 runs. I The principal scorers were Patterson, not out, 33 and Martin 21. Both battled < pluckily. j Trumble took seven wickets for 67, i and Jones 4 for 58.
