(Per Press Association.) London, July 16. The Bank of England returns published to-day show the total reserve to be the proportion of reserve to liabilities being 59-60 per cent. New Zealand hemp and New Zealand frozen meat quotations are unchanged. The sugar market is hardening. German beet, 9s 9d ; Java, 12s. The English wheat market is quiet but steady. The Continental market is unchanged, but the American is depressed. Tallow— Mutton, fine quality, 20s 3d ; medium, 18s 6d ; beef, fine quality, 18s ; medium, 16s 6d. No. 1 best Scotch pig iron, f.o.b. in Clyde, 46s 6d.
