Manawatu Road Board.
The usual monthly meeting of the . above Board was held at the Board's office yesterday. Present— Wardens D. Buick ' (Chairman), Knight, Smith, Bryant, * {Simpson, Sanson and Luxford. The following transfers were agreed to : 7 -Section, 1358, 1360, 1362, 1364, 1366, and 1368 from A. Dick to M. Alderson, Bunny thorpe: section 525 from W. * Wright to C. Gordon, sections 1400, 1416, Bunnthorpe, to Peter Scheidt. '• From Rangitikei County Council farwarding copy petition, praying Govern- ' tuent to take over Wellington and Mana--1 watu Railway for signature — Received. 1 From Mr Scheidt, asking for permis- ' Bion to erect fence across road dividing * sections 1400, 1402, Bunny thorpe.—Be- ' quest granted during pleasure of the I Board. From C. Peck requesting Board to refund him amount paid for Railway eros- ' sing at Bunnythorpe, L 9. The Board 1 decided to grant Mr Peck L 5 towards the ' cost of the crossing. On the motion of Warden Smith, the Board decided to offer section 1479, for leasing for grazing purposes. The ' section has been set apart a3 a gravel rereserve but contains no gravel. [ The chairman reported the result of the visit of the deputation to the Government [ with reference to the Gorge Bridge, mem- ; bers expressing the opinion that the member for Palmerston should have accompanied the deputation. The chairman stated that he believed that Mr Pirani bad been left out owing to some slight ' disagreement between Messrs Cotter aud Wheeler. He, (Mr Pirani) had, however, wished to saddle the Board with a contribution towards the erection of the bridge, a proceeding the Board objected to. Mr Manson interviewed the Board and requested that the road leading from Mr C. Peck's to his place should be repaired. The road was in a very bad state and almost impassable. Mr Manson also mentioned the state of the Kelvin Grove road. The following tenders were received for fencing Farmer's drain :- Clausen and Rasmussen, L 74 19s 8d ; G. Beattie and Co., L767s 7d ; P. O'Rily, L9l 10s ; H. lble and Co., L 69 18s 6d ; G. and H. Sheerin, 78 ; M. H. McColl, L 7 2; T. H. McEwan, L7O 16s. The tender of H. lble and Co. was accepted. Four tenders were received for stumping and ploughing four acres at Bunnythorpe, and that of C. Peck at L 32 with the right to take two crops off the ground was accepted. — Standard,
