GRAND NATIONAL STEEPLECHASE.

(Per Press Association) Melbourne, July 11. The following is the result : — Dungan 1 Tamoni 2 Dondi 3 The other starters were — Songster, Larnoch, Quicklight, Joi, Mikado 11, Grandwing, Waiter, Mercury, Leap Year, Whernside. On the fall of the nag Wbernside took up the running, with Dungan and the favorite and Timoni next. Going along the back of tbe course Whernside and Larnoch fell. Going out of the straight, Quicklight and Songster were taking the field along at a fair pace, but at the back Dondi shot out with tbe lead, Timoni being second, with Joi and Dungan handy. Dondi held his position to half way down the straight, when he was challenged by Dungan, and after a good set-to the horses were placed. Dungan won by a long neck from Timoni, who came with a great rattle at tbe finish. Time, 6min 58sec.
