Manawotu County Loan.
On Wednesday the Manawatn County Councillors were engaged in preparing a fair schedule of works in connection with a loan of £6000 proposed to borrowed for road formation. It will be seen that close on 43000 is set aside for what are termed county roads, and a similar sum for district roads. Following is the schedule proposed :— COUNTY ROADS. Foxton-Sanson road— From Motuiti to Carnarvon, 4-J- miles at £320 per mile, total £1440. Taikorea to Rosina— 2s miles, £800. Carnarvon. Oroua bridge— 3 miles at £200 per mile, total £600. Feilding-Awahuri— New bridge, £125. Total for county roads, £2965. DISTRICT ROADS. Campbell riding— Jones' line £300, Tompkina' line £145, Sanson's line £60 ; total, £505. Mount Stewart riding — Lee's line £50, Feilding road £250, Saadon-Halcombe road £60, Feilding-Halcombe road £27 ; total £387. Eawakawa riding — Main Drain road £320, Taikorea road £120; total, £440. Awahon riding— Burr's road £20, Elkin's road £180, Mootoa swamp road £80, Beach road £100 ; total, £384. Waitohi ridi eg— Penny's line £132, Banks' line £300; total, £432. Sandon riding — Sandon-Halcombe road £60, Taylor's line £50, Sandon township £50, Richardson's line £200, McDonnell's line £50, Gust's line £250 ; total, £660. Carnarvon riding— Taylor's line £114, Rosina line £175, River bank £130; total, £419. Total for district roads, £2827.
