Winter Evening Amusement.

o A meeting of those interested in providing winter evening amusement for the youth of Feilding was held in the Foresters' hall last evening, when about twenty gentlemen and six ladies were present. Mr F. Y. Lethbridge was voted to the chair, and referred to the desirability of something being done to provide amusement in the evening for the youth and invited suggestions as to the best means to be adopted. After discussion, it was resolved on the motion of Mr J. Wood, seconded by Mr Judkins, That a committee be appointed to formulate a scheme for providing winter evening amusement for the youth of Feilding, such committee to report at a future meeting. Resolved on the motion of Mr Judkins, seconded by Mr W. Franklin-Browne, That the following be appointed to carry out tbe former resolution : — Revs C. C. Harrison, A. S. Innes Jones, J. Cocker and H. M. Murray, Mrs Lethbridge, Messrs J. H. Stevens, J. Greenwood and G. Kirton. During the discussion as the best means for providing winter evening amusement, Mr J. H. Stevens stated that the Library Committee had done all they could to make the reading and magazine rooms popular for boys, by fixing the nominal subscription of 3d per month as membership to the latter He pointed out tbat in tho magazine room they had provided a number of the best periodicals end, also, chess and draughts. After the meeting had adjourned the committee met and decided to hold a committee meeting at Mr Greenwood's oflice, at 7.80, on Tuesday evening. — — — — — i — — *
