AUSTRALIANS v. NORTH OF ENGLAND.
(Per Press Association.) London July 2. In consequence of the inability of Yorkshire to take part in the match, the team chosen to represent the North of England against the Australians, at Manchester, today, is not up to the full strength, being composed of Mold, Brigg9, Sugg, Baker, and Ward (Lancashire) ; Attewell and Jones (Notts) ; Bainbridge, Lilley, and Quaife (Warwick) ; and Plougher (Leicestershire). The wicket was soft, andjthe Australians upon going in found the bowlers had the upper hand. At lunch time five wickets were down for 82 runs : Giffen, c Jones b Briggs 0 Iredale, c Jones b Plougher 9 Darling, b Plouger 20 Trott, c Sugg b Briggs 4 Graham, c Ward b Attewell 8 Donnan, Hill, and Johns are not playing.
