Quoit Match.
The first match between the Feilding and Marton clubs took place yesterday, at Marton, and resulted in a win for the visitors by 21 points— four games to two. Owing to the Marton secretary being out of town on business, the letter did not reach him in time to enable the visitors being met on their arrival, but this omission was amply atoned for by the cordial attention subsequently accorded to them. The game was plaved in a paddock at the back of the Marton Hotel, and on account of the recent rain the usual pitch had to be abandoned and a fresh sito selected on the grass. The two first heads resulted in Feilding leading by five points, but the two veterans, who played the laet head, I ■oon put on a considerable lead which re- | salted in a substantial victory. For the Visitors Grant's play, who defeated the local champion, was much admired, whilst D. Younger, B. Poole, and H. H. Knowlee also came to the trout. At the conclusion the usual compliments were tendered, and the visitors were tnen en- I tertained at a substantial feast in tbe Marton Hotel. The return match will probably be played here at an early date, and as the Martomans are determined to recover their lost laurels it behoves the locals to practice so as to keep them.
