LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, Jnne 30. The Council met ad 2.30. Hon Mr Jones resumed the debate on the second reading of Uhe Asiatic Restriction Bill, and upon the Hon Mr | Shriruski'H adverse amendment he up- [ held the principle of tbe Bill. Hons Reeves and Bdlt spoke in support of the Bill, and thVe Hons Scotland, Richardson and Bonar Against it. On a division the vo'ting resulted in the ayes and noes bein^ each 15. Tbe Speaker thereupon gave his casting vote againßfc the second reading, tbe Bill thus being thrown! put. The division list was- as follows : — Ayes (for Bill) 15-lStewart, Baillie, Barnicoat, Arkwright, jKerr, Jenkinson, Rigg, Jones, Reeves, Feldwick, Kenny, Jennings, Bolt, Montgomery, Walker. Noes (against Bill) 15— Richardson. Acland, Scotland, Swanson, Shrimski, Pharazyn, Williams, Taiaroa, Stevens, Bonar, Wbite, Bowen, Johnston, Grace, Holmes and Miller (castiug vote.) The Council then adjourned.
