AUSTRALIANS v. YORKSHIRE.
(Per Press Association.) liONDon, June 16. Twenty thonsand people were present at the cricket match. The play at the start was of the slowest description, Donnan scoring only four in an bour. Gregory played a dashing innings, and knocked up his score, which included six fours, in an hour and a half. With Hill he put on 48 for the seventh wicket. The fielding of the Home team was smart. Yorkshire started forcing the game, and ran up 39 in half an hour, when Trott put on Jones, who dismissed five for twenty-eight. Denton was twice missed at the wickets. The Australians' first innings closed for 144, the chief scores being — Donnan 14, Giffen 11, Gregory 59, Hill 17,Trumblel7. Hurst took 5 wickets for 40, Wainwright 2 for 23, Jackson 2 for 80. In their first innings Yorkshire lost seyen wickets for 96, when the stumps were drawn. The chief scores were— Jackson 20, Brown 12, Hurst 7, Denton (not out) 29. Later. A severe thunderstorm, accompanied by heavy rain, swept over the grounds at Leeds, and the match has not been resumed up to tbe present.
