♦ — . I Per Press Association.) Napier, June 16. Michael Ambrose pleaded guilty to obtaining money under false pretences. He was courting a girl at Danevirke, and wrote to her saying he was ill and in need of money. She borrowed £10 to send to him, witb which he took a trip with another girl. He was sentenced to three months, Wawn's restaurant and a small adjacent building occupied as a shop was destroyed by fire at Hastings this morning. The branch agency of the Napier Telegraph newspaper was damaged. Insurances — Wawn's building £115, London, Liverpool, and Globe ; Daily Telegraph office, £100, Alliance. Wellington, June 16. The Ladies' Colt Championship of iSew Zealand will be held in Wellington in the beginning of August. Auckland, June 15, A lamentable accident occurred on I Saturday at a football match between I Otahuhu and Panmure. A young man ' named Sykes collided with a member of the opposing team, the latter's knee coming in contract with Sykes' abdomen.
