Palmerston District Hospital Board.

The usual monthly meeting of the Board was held yesterday. Present — Messrs VV. Park (chairman), Taylor, Lethbridge, Kendall, Ravenhill, Harris, Goodbehere, Ransom, Booth, Hammond. The following correspondence was dealt \ with : From Misses Mulcock and Thomson, accepting positions on nursing staff. — Received. From Feilding Borough Council, stating Dr Monckton had recommended sending Patrick O'Brien to an otiulist. He was almost blind, and the Council asked if arrangement could be made to send him to the Wellington hospital. O'Brien was 56 years of age and a widower. He had only been residing at Feilding about two months. Mr Goodbehere said from enquiries made he had ascertained that O'Brien had left Feilding, and no action was taken. Mr Harris said too much money had been speut on the new improvements. The Clerk stated the total sum received, including subsidy, was £1600, and there would be about £300 in hand after the present contracts were paid for. Mr Taylor thought the sum should be deposited in three lots of £ 100 each. Ho did not think too much money had been spent on improvements. He moved to this effect. The Chairman suggested a resolution might be passed in the direction of conserving balance of money for future improvements, without placing it at fixed deposit.
