The Stock Market.
Messrs Abraham and Williams report : — We have only the Palmerston sale to report upon. Sheep and cattle were largely in excess to advertised numbers. For the former spirited demand existed throughout and practically everything cleared. Sound lambs and forward wethers advanced in price. For empty ewes of a suitable class an unsatisfied demand existed. The 6- tooth breeding ewes at 5s 7d were on the small side. Cow beef was dull of sale and at lower values. Store steers were in better demand than last week, and made better prices. Heifers, store and milch cows and indifferent weaners remained on vendors' hands. We quote — SheepStore wethers, 9s 5d to 9s 8d ; others, 7s 6d to 8s lid ; empty ewes, 4s 6d to 6s ; forward empty ewes, 6s 9d to 7s 6d ; 2-tooth empty ewes, 6s lOd ; fat ewes, 8s 2d ; breeding ewes, 7s ; others, 5s 7d ; best lambs, 5s 4d ; others, 2s to 3s lOd ; 6-tooth breeding ewes, 5s 7d.
